Was It Only Yesterday?

Was It Only Yesterday?

It seems like only yesterday
The first time you looked at me with that smile.
I smiled back at you with tears in my eyes
And knew the world was all ok.
Nothing else mattered for that little while.

Every now and then I catch a glimpse of you,
Not as the men you've become,
But as the little boys you were, when you were only two
I was so thrilled to be blessed with two sons

Two happy, laughing, boisterous sons.
Not close in age but close in heart
One looking out for the other, both having fun.
Always teasing, whether together or far apart.

You were both so different and yet...
In some ways the same.
One, my serious brown haired boy,
With the dark laughing eyes,
The other my carefree blond,
Blue eyed boy who loved playing games.
And both so loving, so giving, so caring,
that sometime it made me cry.

You both turned out to be even more
Than I ever wished you'd be
I realize now that all my dreams for you came true
My little boys all grown up,
Happy in their own little family
I am so lucky to call you mine.
I am so proud of you.

Today, I thought about your beautiful smiles,
And laughing little boy faces.
Your hugs and your kisses,
And the boo boo's I kissed when you cried
I spend more and more time
In those far away places
With two little boys and two little girls
And thoughts of days gone by.

It seems like only yesterday
The first time I saw you smile
Nothing's changed, I still feel the same way
When you smile at me...
Nothing else matters for awhile.

A Note:
Not mentioning any names, LOL,
One of my sons took piano lessons for almost three years,
many times, having to go to his lessons in his football uniform.
The only song he learned to play was...
YEP... The Entertainer!

(Paul... Got'cha!!)
